Our Work

Rooted Together Work

Rooted Together advances community wellbeing through two core initiatives:
(1) Immigrant Support, and
(2) Community Convenings for Collective Power.

Both projects reflect our belief that safety, belonging, and justice are built through relationships — and that communities thrive when we care for one another.

A. Immigrant Support Program

Legal Defense Grants & Community Outreach

Immigrant families in San Mateo County continue to face rising incidents of ICE detention and immigration enforcement. Legal representation is the single most effective tool to secure release and protect families from long‑term harm — yet it remains out of reach for many.

Rooted Together provides:

  • Legal Defense Grants: Small, needs‑based grants that help families access immigration attorneys, pay legal fees, cover bond‑related costs, and stabilize their household during crisis.

  • Community Outreach & Education: We partner with trusted community organizations to share Know Your Rights information, host workshops, and ensure families understand their options before, during, and after enforcement actions.

  • Culturally Grounded Support: Outreach and materials are offered in multiple languages, and we work closely with directly impacted leaders to ensure our support is accessible, dignified, and responsive to real community needs.

Together, these efforts help families stay safe, informed, and connected to the resources that keep them rooted in the place they call home.

B. Annual Convening: Building Power, Rooted in Community

Rooted Together is launching an annual gathering that brings together community organizations, faith partners, legal advocates, directly impacted leaders, and neighbors who share our vision of safety, dignity, and belonging for immigrant families.

This convening will:

  • Strengthen collaboration across sectors

  • Share strategies for rapid response, legal defense, and community care

  • Uplift the leadership of directly impacted community members

  • Build a shared roadmap for long‑term immigrant justice in San Mateo County
